According to MODIS Active Fire Mapping Program, 50,000 acres of Lincoln and Clark Counties are burning, with large fires just across the borders in Utah, Arizona, and California. All told, 100,000 acres. Here it just seems like the whole world is on fire. From the maps it looks like we're probably 20 miles from the closest edge, but we're down-wind and the air is thick. I had to do laundry today, even though everything will come off the line smelling like it's been camping for a week. This is the price of a wet spring. Lots of stuff to burn when the summer dry lightning storms come. There's a wind advisory for this weekend, along with a red flag fire warning. Town is full of fire crews down from Ely. This would be a really good day for a rainstorm.
